Breaking New Ground: NSG’s UFF® and Glanova® Glass Attain SCS Recycled Content Certification

In a monumental stride toward environmental responsibility, NSG Group proudly announces the receipt of Recycled Content Certification from SCS Global Services for its acclaimed products, “UFF®” ultra-fine flat glass and “glanova®” chemically strengthened glass. Manufactured at our cutting-edge Maizuru plant in Kyoto, Japan, these innovative glass solutions have achieved recognition for their sustainable composition.

Elevating Eco-Friendly Solutions

Both “UFF®” and “glanova®” are integral components in a myriad of applications, including Electronics, Touch Panel Glass, mobile devices, auto interiors, Office Automation, and Factory Automation. With the SCS certification, it is now officially confirmed that over 35 percent of materials in “UFF®” and 38 percent in “glanova®” are derived from pre-consumer recycled glass, specifically trimmed glass from the manufacturing processes of float glass.

A Vision for Tomorrow

This certification marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable practices. While the certification currently covers specific items within each brand, NSG envisions a future where our entire product range embodies eco-consciousness. This step forward solidifies our dedication to creating environmentally friendly products that resonate with the evolving needs of the market.

Promoting Resource Reuse and Recycling

In their pursuit of a sustainable society, NSG has prioritized the reuse and recycling of resources within their manufacturing processes. All glass cullet, which comprises trimmed glass scraps, is meticulously recycled as raw material for glass. Furthermore, our efforts extend to collecting waste glass from customers, enhancing our recycling ratio and minimizing waste through responsible recycling practices.

A Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

By obtaining this certification, NSG not only bolsters the credibility of their product data in the environmental arena but also actively contributes to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions associated with glass melting. Additionally, their commitment to minimizing waste aligns seamlessly with our Sustainability Policy and Environmental Policy, reinforcing our dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
