Introducing eyrise® Solar Shading Glass: Transforming RUSI Dome with Cutting-Edge Technology
London, UK – RUSI (the Royal United Services Institute) has partnered with eyrise® to revolutionize its historic grade II listed headquarters in central London with state-of-the-art solar shading glass. As part of the extensive renovation project at 61 Whitehall, a contemporary glazed dome will grace the building, serving as a dynamic meeting hub with breathtaking views of Whitehall and beyond.
Preserving Heritage, Embracing Innovation
Dating back to 1896, 61 Whitehall is an iconic structure steeped in history. The renovation aims to seamlessly blend tradition with modernity by incorporating the latest building technology and adding a fifth floor. RUSI, the world’s oldest independent security and defence think-tank, will witness a complete transformation of its office space, ensuring it remains at the forefront of cutting-edge research, events, and policy discussions on UK defence, security, and global affairs.
Dynamic Liquid Crystal Glazing
Leading the charge in this transformative project, eyrise® will provide 85 m2 of dynamic liquid crystal glazing, creating a mesmerizing visual experience for occupants within the dome’s steel structure. A total of 70 double glass panels, featuring Licrivision technology, will offer instant solar shading while preserving an abundance of natural daylight. The liquid crystal mixture D incorporated into the glazing will ensure visual comfort, optimal thermal regulation, and color neutrality.
A Beacon of Knowledge and Collaboration
The new dome at RUSI’s headquarters will become a centerpiece for impactful events and discussions, attracting world leaders and senior policymakers. This beacon of knowledge will shape conversations, contribute to global security, and pave the way for a safer, more stable world for years to come.
A Greener Future
The eyrise® glass not only adds a touch of elegance and functionality to the dome but also enhances the sustainability credentials of the entire building. By reducing the need for excessive air conditioning and artificial lighting, the energy-efficient eyrise® glass aligns with RUSI’s commitment to lower energy consumption and environmental responsibility.
Unveiling the Future
The comprehensive renovation project, overseen by construction company Coniston, is expected to conclude in the second half of 2023. The steel dome structure, expertly crafted by Octatube, will seamlessly integrate the cutting-edge eyrise® glass, ensuring uninterrupted panoramic views and fostering a productive atmosphere for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
As RUSI continues to lead the way in security and defence discourse, eyrise® is proud to play a crucial role in transforming the historic headquarters into a modern hub of innovation, where ideas are shaped, and global security is reimagined.
