From 20–23 October 2026, glasstec in Düsseldorf will place practical glass processing and performance testing at the centre of its programme, connecting workshop techniques with the demands placed on modern building envelopes.
A key feature will be Handwerk Live, focused on the day-to-day work of glass-processing trades. Machinery, tools, materials, digital solutions and new applications will be demonstrated through live presentations, workshops and specialist sessions. At the BIV joint stand, visitors will also see demonstrations including laser cutting technology for glass.
The new “secure – innovative – sustainable” special exhibition by ift Rosenheim will take the process further, showing not only what glass can be processed into, but how its performance is verified. Located in Hall 10 / G82, the exhibition will feature live demonstrations of testing related to vandalism, extreme weather and mechanical stresses. Demonstrations will take place daily at 11:00 and 15:00.
The programme covers hail resistance, overheating, vandalism protection, vacuum-insulating glazing, adaptive solar control, large-format lightweight glazing, recycling and reuse. The ift Rosenheim sessions will also address life-cycle assessments, EPDs and fire safety with glass. 
Together, these activities show a broader direction for the industry: glass is increasingly being evaluated not simply as a finished product, but through its processing, testing, resilience, energy performance and circularity.
