Gerresheimer has announced plans to close its manufacturing facility in Chicago Heights, Illinois, as part of a broader strategy to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. The shutdown is scheduled for later this year, with layoffs expected to take effect on September 30, according to a notice submitted to state authorities.
The company stated that the decision aligns with its ongoing global transformation program, aimed at reducing operational costs and improving overall performance. Production from the Chicago Heights site will be gradually transferred to three of Gerresheimer’s glass manufacturing plants located in Italy and India.
This move reflects the company’s focus on optimizing its international production network while maintaining supply continuity for its customers.
