A Monumental Project: Tirana’s Rock

Currently underway is a particularly ambitious and groundbreaking project: Tirana’s Rock.

This multifunctional development, commissioned by ANA and VI&V, and designed by the renowned architectural firm MVRDV, promises to be a landmark structure in the heart of the Albanian capital.

Project Details:
  • Client: ANA and VI&V
  • Location: Tirana, Albania
  • Architect: MVRDV
  • Year: On-Going
  • Area: 16,000 m²
  • Facade: 10,000 m² (Custom)
  • Parapet: 6,000 m²

Tirana’s Rock, soaring to a height of 85 meters, is poised to be among the largest buildings in the world that also serves as a sculpture. Designed in the shape of the bust of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg, and surrounded by arched balconies forming his head, the building seamlessly integrates the country’s rich cultural history. This innovative design aims to give Tirana a unique identity, distinguishing it from other European capitals.

Progress and Impact:

The transformation of Tirana’s Rock is steadily progressing. The recent removal of scaffolding up to the 12th floor has unveiled more of the intricate design, particularly the area just below Skanderbeg’s nose. From various vantage points throughout the city, the building’s impact is already undeniable.

The dynamic façade is becoming increasingly visible, reinforcing its role as a defining element of Tirana’s modern silhouette. This fusion of engineering, artistry, and national identity showcases ALCA’s commitment to pushing boundaries and creating truly exceptional structures.

ALCA continues to work diligently, bringing the vision of Tirana’s Rock to life. Stay tuned for further updates as this landmark project progresses, solidifying ALCA’s reputation as a leader in innovative facade design and construction.
