The Anji “Two Mountains” Future Science and Technology City Culture and Art Center, a project designed to be a beacon of innovation and creativity in the serene landscape of Anji, has reached a significant milestone.
In June 2024, the first super glass curtain wall, supplied by NorthGlass, was successfully hoisted, marking a crucial step towards the center’s completion.
This monumental glass panel, spanning nearly 7,000 square meters, was meticulously lifted by a specialized team utilizing a 13-ton suction rack and a 15-ton installation mechanical head. Surveyors meticulously guided the installation process using a total station, ensuring precise placement of the glass. This impressive feat of engineering showcased NorthGlass’s expertise in handling such large-scale glass structures.
The glass curtain wall system itself is a testament to innovation, incorporating a range of elements including folding line glass, supporting glass, glass ribs, bent glass, and rectangular tempered glass. The main façade, a towering 19-meter all-glass curtain wall, sets a new record for NorthGlass, featuring five layers of laminated glass, insulating layers, and two layers of laminated tempered glass, weighing a staggering 10 tons.
This ambitious project, designed by renowned architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architectural Design Firm and contracted by China State Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau, envisions a unique architectural tapestry. The center boasts an axis layout with visual corridors flanking an open central platform. The high points of the site are adorned with “bamboo leaves,” offering a sculptural and airy presence amidst the tea fields. The metal “bamboo sheet” roof, resembling leaf veins, further enhances the natural aesthetic.
The entire project, encompassing nearly 120,000 square meters, includes a Grand Theater, International Conference Center, and Art Training Center. These units are seamlessly integrated within the tea fields and under the “bamboo leaf” roof, creating a harmonious and artistic landscape.
With its “One Leaf” and “One Tea” concept, the Anji Culture and Art Center aims to become a vibrant cultural, artistic, and technological hub, offering unique experiences and fostering dialogue between nature and human ingenuity. As the project progresses towards its completion in 2025, the lifting of the first super glass curtain wall signifies not only a crucial step in construction but also a testament to the unwavering commitment to realizing this visionary project.
