glasstec 2026: Glass Technology Live Pushes Glass Beyond Transparency

At glasstec 2026, taking place from 20–23 October at Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, the special show glass technology live (gtl) in Hall 11 will present developments expanding the technical, structural and functional role of glass in architecture and building envelopes.

Under the theme “Beyond Transparency,” gtl 2026 will focus on how glass can contribute to structural performance, daylight management, indoor climate, energy efficiency and circular construction. The programme brings together research developments, industrial technologies, functional glass solutions and advanced façade concepts, showing how these innovations can translate into future building projects.

One of the featured installations is “Réflexions”, created by Atelier Emmanuel Barrois in collaboration with Bollinger+Grohmann. The 15-metre-high sculptural structure consists of prismatic glass elements arranged in changing configurations. Originally presented in the gardens of the Palais Royal in Paris, the installation combines architectural design and engineering while specifically exploring the potential of reused glass in architecture and art.

Beyond individual exhibits, glass technology live will showcase prototypes and real developments from research and industry, allowing visitors to examine technologies directly and discuss their applications with experts.

Visitors can also join guided tours in German and English, offering detailed explanations of selected exhibits and direct exchange with the specialists behind them.

The wider glasstec 2026 programme will address three major industry themes: Circularity, AI & Digital Technologies, and Decarbonisation, connecting technological development with the changing requirements of glass production, processing and building design.
