The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) will bring together industry professionals at its 2026 Fall Conference in Calgary, Alberta, with a program focused on daylighting, energy performance and regulatory developments affecting the fenestration industry.
The keynote presentation, “The Case for Better Daylighting and Views in North American Buildings,” will be delivered by Dr. Jennifer Veitch, a researcher at the National Research Council of Canada’s Construction Research Centre. She will present research showing how daylight improves health, well-being, productivity and sleep, while highlighting the need for building codes to better recognize the value of windows and skylights.
A technical panel featuring Jeff Baker (WESTLab Canada), Lisa Bergeron (JELD-WEN) and Paul Bush (Vitro Architectural Glass) will explain the National Building Code of Canada’s new solar heat gain requirements. The session will cover compliance pathways and the role of SHGC, U-factor and Energy Rating (ER) in glazing performance.
The conference will also feature a regulatory update on Canadian policies, trade developments and CUSMA negotiations led by L.P. Champagne of the Canadian Construction Association, providing attendees with insights into upcoming industry changes.
