At Plug and Play in Saxon, Switzerland, glass fabrication is approached as both a technical and artistic discipline. The company, led by CEO Emanuelle Zufferey and CTO Diego Micheloud, operates through two distinct brands: Plug and Play, focused on architectural and functional glass solutions, and Narcis, which develops experimental, design-led glass pieces. With a team of six, every stage, from design, cutting, machining, finishing, to final assembly, is managed internally, allowing tight control over bespoke projects.
The workshop produces a wide range of work, including custom shower enclosures, mirrored walls, glass partitions, furniture elements, lamps, and engraved decorative panels. Each project typically starts from a client concept, which is refined collaboratively. “They often come to us with an idea, and we work together to develop it into something manufacturable and unique,” says Zufferey.
To meet the demand for both precision and flexibility, the company invested in CMS Glass Technology over a decade ago and later renewed its machinery with the CMS electa four-axis machining centre. This compact system was selected for its ability to combine a small footprint with a large working envelope, an important factor for their limited workshop space in Saxon.
The electa is used for multiple high-precision processes, including edge polishing, chamfering, engraving, drilling, and milling, supporting both standard architectural glass and complex artistic pieces produced under Narcis. Its four-axis configuration allows more advanced shaping operations without sacrificing stability or repeatability.

Micheloud highlights operational reliability as a key advantage: “Our previous CMS machine performed extremely well, so renewing with CMS was the logical choice.” He also notes that downtime has significantly decreased due to CMS’s integrated support system and IoT connectivity, which enables real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, and faster maintenance response.
This integration of machinery and digital support has streamlined production workflows, allowing the team to focus more on design and fabrication rather than technical interruptions. Today, the CMS electa is central to Plug and Play’s hybrid identity, bridging craftsmanship, innovation, and precision engineering in every glass creation.
