Schaeffler Bühl Technology Center Transforms Interiors With Feco Glass Wall Systems

Schaeffler AG has developed its new Project and Technology Center in Bühl, designed by Wurm and Wurm Architects, providing around 400 employees with 15,000 m² of flexible, interdisciplinary workspace focused on future mobility innovation.

The interior spatial system was implemented by feco Group, using modular glass and wood partition walls to achieve a balance between openness, daylight, and acoustic control. In the main foyer, a 4.94-meter-high fecoplan glass wall creates a visually transparent entrance while maintaining controlled access and spatial definition.

Across office and collaboration zones, flush double-glazed partition systems and corridor-side flush doors deliver strong acoustic separation. Constructions using 12 mm ESG glass achieve sound insulation of Rw,P = 37 dB, while 16 mm VSG-SI assemblies reach up to Rw,P = 42 dB, ensuring quiet working environments within an open-plan structure. In executive areas requiring higher privacy levels, the fecofix double glazing system delivers up to Rw,P = 47 dB.

Complementing the glazing systems, fecowand system walls with sound-absorbing finishes enhance room acoustics throughout circulation and meeting areas. Wooden fecotür H70 doors integrate optional room-side slotting to further improve sound control in dynamic work zones.

The multi-storey reception hall is lined with fecophon wall cladding in oak veneer, featuring vertical 14/2 mm slotting and reaching heights of up to 6.84 m, also incorporating integrated storage and cloakroom functions.

A defining architectural feature is the suspended meeting cubes, glazed with fecoplan safety and smoke-resistant glass, enabling enclosed yet transparent collaboration spaces. Writable magnetic surfaces support agile working methods and flexible team interaction.
