HEGLA’s IG2Pieces machine has been nominated for the prestigious Fensterbau Innovation Award, recognizing its contribution to advancing circular solutions in the glass industry.
The innovative system is designed to separate old or faulty insulated glass units (IGUs) without damaging the glass panes or the spacers. By carefully dismantling the units, IG2Pieces allows the individual panes to be cleanly sorted by glass type. This makes it possible for the glass to be efficiently recycled, while also creating opportunities for certain units to be repaired or reused rather than discarded.

As sustainability and resource efficiency become increasingly important across the flat glass sector, technologies such as IG2Pieces are helping manufacturers reduce waste and recover valuable materials that would otherwise be lost in the recycling process. The ability to separate and reuse components also contributes to improved financial sustainability for glass processors.
A key step toward supporting a circular economy in the glass industry, the IG2Pieces system demonstrates how innovation can help balance environmental responsibility with operational efficiency.

HEGLA will present the technology live at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE at booth 3A-104, where visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the system and see its capabilities in action.
