Softsolution Showcases Osprey®25 Technology for Detecting Glass Distortion in Tempering

Softsolution has released a new video highlighting how advanced inspection technology can help glass processors better understand and control distortion during the tempering process. The presentation features insights from glass expert Mika Eronen and demonstrates how real production challenges can be addressed with accurate measurement tools.

In tempered glass production, distortion effects can occur as the glass passes through the furnace and rollers. While some defects originate during heating and cooling, they may not become visible until the finished glass is installed on a building façade. Common distortion issues include roller wave, edge kink, bow, roller marks, and roller pitting. These imperfections can affect both the visual appearance and the perceived quality of architectural glass.

The video focuses on the capabilities of the Osprey®25 glass distortion measurement system. Designed for in-line inspection, the system can measure distortion in any direction and detect anisotropy in real time. This allows operators to identify quality deviations during production rather than after the glass has already been processed.

By providing continuous and precise data, the system helps operators better understand how tempering parameters influence glass quality. Real-time feedback makes it easier to adjust furnace conditions, optimize the tempering process, and reduce defects before they reach the final product.
