Willmott’s Ghost: Italian Dining Within Seattle’s Iconic Glass Spheres

Heliotrope Architects’ Willmott’s Ghost is a modern Italian restaurant located on the ground floor of The Spheres at Amazon’s Seattle campus. These three glass-enclosed domes house a lush indoor jungle with thousands of plant species, and the restaurant’s design responds directly to the curved glass façade. Banquettes, booths, and custom furniture follow the glass perimeter, creating a fluid connection between diners and the sky-lit environment above.

Natural light streams through the transparent façade, highlighting soft pastel tones of white marble countertops, pink Ann Sacks mosaic tiles, and mint-green accents. Curved walls clad in painted wood pickets and brass fixtures, including custom liquor racks and bathroom elements, reflect the light and complement the glass geometry.

Designing within the curved structure posed challenges due to mechanical systems supporting the three-story jungle. Custom tables, bar counters, and curved seating were carefully fabricated to fit the building’s unique dimensions.

The result is a luminous, immersive dining space where the glass façade frames the indoor jungle and city views, seamlessly integrating architecture, nature, and Italian culinary tradition.
