Glass Performance Days (GPD) 2025 in Tampere, Finland, brought together researchers, architects, glass producers, equipment suppliers, and others from across the glass industry. Organized by Glaston every two years, the event focused on sharing trends and innovations in the global glass sector.

Glass for Europe’s Role

At GPD, Glass for Europe shared updates on important legislation affecting the industry. Adrien Carton, Sustainable Construction and Industrial Policy Manager, presented on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). He highlighted its impact on National Building Renovation Plans and renovation goals for residential and non residential buildings, stressing the importance of high-performance glazing in energy efficiency.

Energy Calculation Guidance for Glazing

Carton also discussed upcoming non binding guidance on energy calculations for transparent building elements. This guidance aims to help countries better assess solar gains in glazing performance. He urged the flat glass industry to engage with national authorities to ensure this guidance is properly used in legislation.

New Construction Products Regulation

The next day, Justin Loup, Technical Regulations and Product Policy Manager, presented on the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR). He explained the standardization process, implementation timeline, and key sustainability and digitalization requirements. GPD offered a valuable platform for stakeholders to discuss concerns and shape the regulation’s impact on the flat glass sector.
