In an era where noise pollution is an ever-growing concern, the demand for effective sound insulation solutions is at an all-time high.

STRATO® EVA laminated glass is emerging as a preferred choice for architects and homeowners alike, offering a blend of safety, durability, and, most importantly, enhanced sound insulation. With its unique composition, STRATO® EVA has been engineered to address the challenges posed by disruptive noise levels that can affect our well-being and productivity.

The Science Behind STRATO® EVA Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is created by bonding two or more panes of glass together with a specialized layer of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). This construction not only enhances the strength of the glass but also provides exceptional soundproofing capabilities. The STRATO® EVA film acts as a crucial damping layer, absorbing sound waves and preventing them from penetrating into the internal environment. As a result, homes and businesses situated in loud urban areas can experience remarkable noise reduction, effectively muting conversations and muffling intrusive sounds from traffic and construction.

Certified Performance in Sound Insulation

The acoustic insulation capabilities of STRATO® EVA laminated glass have been rigorously tested and certified by independent laboratories, adhering to international standards such as:

– EN ISO 10140-1:2016: Laboratory measurements of sound insulation of building elements.
– EN ISO 10140-2:2012: Measurements of sound insulation of building elements.
– EN ISO 717-1:2013: Assessments of sound insulation in buildings and their elements.

These tests showcase the outstanding soundproofing performance of various thicknesses of STRATO® EVA laminated glass, confirming that even thinner configurations can provide exceptional acoustic insulation.

A Comprehensive Suite of Benefits

Beyond superior sound insulation, STRATO® EVA laminated glass boasts a multitude of additional benefits, making it an ideal choice for various applications:

– Improved Safety: Should the glass break, the EVA interlayer holds the shards together, minimizing the risk of injury. This makes it particularly suitable for use in windows, doors, and skylights.

– Increased Durability: STRATO® EVA laminated glass is more resistant to scratches and chips than traditional glass, which enhances its longevity, especially in high-traffic areas.

– Enhanced UV Protection: The STRATO® EVA film also provides protection against harmful UV rays, helping to prevent the fading of your interior furnishings and flooring.

Diverse Applications

The versatility of STRATO® EVA laminated glass allows for a broad range of applications, including:

– Residential: Windows, doors, skylights, and interior partitions.
– Commercial: Office partitions, conference rooms, and sound studios.
– Educational Institutions: Classrooms, libraries, and music rooms.
– Healthcare: Patient rooms, operating rooms, and waiting areas.

Commitment to Sustainability

In addition to its exceptional acoustic properties, the STRATO® Low Carbon product range represents Satinal’s dedication to sustainability. This innovative line of interlayers is manufactured entirely in Italy, featuring an eco-friendly production process and sustainable raw material supply chain. In recognition of its efforts, STRATO® was awarded the ISCC+ certification (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) in 2022, emphasizing its status as a forward-thinking brand committed to minimizing environmental impact while delivering high-quality products.

If you’re seeking a reliable method to mitigate noise levels in your home or business, STRATO® EVA laminated glass presents an outstanding solution. Its comprehensive array of benefits—including superior sound insulation, improved safety, increased durability, and enhanced UV protection—makes it a compelling choice. Transform your environment into a more peaceful and productive space with the innovative technology of STRATO® EVA laminated glass, produced by Satinal, a leading manufacturer of 100% made in Italy interlayers.

In 2023, AGC Glass Europe, a prominent player in the glass industry, has made significant strides in its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and achieving its sustainability goals.

The updated Sustainability section of the company’s corporate website now provides a comprehensive overview of the details and figures behind its decarbonization efforts.

AGC Glass Europe is driven by the AGC Group’s objective to reduce its carbon footprint by 30 percent by 2030 (compared to 2019) and achieve carbon-neutral glass production by 2050. According to the latest figures, the company’s carbon footprint in 2023 was estimated to be 2.7 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, representing a 13 percent reduction compared to 2019.

The main contributors to AGC Glass Europe’s CO2 emissions are fuel combustion, raw material decarbonization, raw materials production from suppliers, and electricity purchased for production sites. To address these emission hotspots, the company has implemented several decarbonization initiatives throughout 2023.

Recycling has played a crucial role in AGC Glass Europe’s sustainability efforts. The company recycled around 700,000 tonnes of cullet in 2023, saving approximately 840,000 tonnes of raw material and 490,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The average cullet ratio in the company’s raw materials was close to 30 percent in 2023, with the goal of increasing this ratio to 50 percent by 2030.

In terms of renewable energy, AGC Glass Europe’s total electricity production from low-carbon sources, such as wind, solar, cogeneration, and heat recovery, reached 42,917 MWh in 2023, resulting in a saving of 3,120 tonnes of CO2. The total output of photovoltaic installations also saw a remarkable increase of close to 80 percent compared to 2022.

Innovations in glass production technology have been another focus area for AGC Glass Europe. The company is in the process of installing electro-boosting on its float production lines to partially electrify production across Europe. Additionally, the Barevka production line in the Czech Republic will be refurbished in 2024 to become a high-performing, state-of-the-art facility, with a hybrid furnace that aims to reduce the site’s scope 1 and 3 emissions by 75 percent compared to the reference scenario.

Furthermore, AGC Glass Europe has made significant progress in the development and production of Low-Carbon glass. The first Low-Carbon glass was successfully produced at the company’s plant in Moustier, Belgium, in 2023, and the plant in Seingbouse, France, also started producing Low-Carbon glass. Other AGC float plants are expected to follow suit in the near future.

AGC Glass Europe’s comprehensive decarbonization efforts in 2023 demonstrate its unwavering commitment to leading the glass industry towards a more sustainable future. By leveraging innovative technologies, increasing renewable energy usage, and optimizing its production processes, the company is paving the way for a greener and more eco-friendly glass industry.
