Glas Trösch has introduced Silverstar Light, a thin triple insulating glass unit featuring an ultra-thin 0.5 mm center pane from Corning made of Enlighten Glass, positioning the innovation as a lightweight alternative for modern glazing applications. As the first processor in continental Europe to adopt this technology at scale, Glas Trösch is targeting improved installation efficiency and reduced structural load across new build and renovation projects.

Depending on configuration, the system reduces total insulating glass weight by 17% to 47% compared to conventional 4 mm pane assemblies. This reduction simplifies handling on site and can support slimmer frame and fitting designs, while also improving long-term durability of window systems.

Two variants are available: the 0.5 mm ultra-thin center pane and a 2 mm option suitable for laminated safety glass (VSG), meeting required safety standards. Performance remains comparable to standard triple glazing, with Ug values as low as 0.5 W/m²K, alongside strong acoustic and light transmission properties. Solar control coatings can be integrated to manage summer heat gains.

Sustainability is a key advantage, with a calculated CO₂ footprint of 2.88 CO₂ eqv/m², over 20% lower than conventional insulating glass units under EN 15804+A2 methodology. Certified under DIN EN 1279-2 and 1279-3, Silverstar Light is available in sizes up to 1500 × 2200 mm.

Field tests confirm durability and ease of installation, supporting use in energy-efficient façade systems and renovation upgrades across residential and commercial buildings. Manufacturers highlight compatibility with existing frame systems and improved lifecycle performance under demanding climatic conditions across Europe markets today.

As architectural demands continue to evolve, high-performance glazing solutions must withstand increasingly extreme conditions. LandVac Titanium Vacuum Glass is engineered to meet these challenges, offering advanced thermal insulation and durability for modern transparent building envelopes.

A key strength of this vacuum insulated glass (VIG) is its flexibility in customization. For example, LandVac enables precise laser marking of logos directly onto the strip getter, allowing branding integration without affecting performance or structural integrity. This demonstrates the product’s adaptability to project-specific design needs.

In high-humidity environments, long-term reliability is essential. LandVac addresses this with a robust edge-sealing system that combines metal sealing with a secondary waterproof layer. This dual protection prevents issues such as ionisation or corrosion of internal materials. The sealing system has been rigorously tested under extreme conditions, including high temperature, high humidity, UV exposure, boiling, and salt spray, ensuring durability over time.

Another common challenge with single-pane VIG systems is thermal bridging at the edges, which can lead to condensation. To reduce this risk, it is recommended that the thermal break in the framing profile be at least 30 mm wide. For projects with stricter performance requirements, condensation can be further minimized by increasing the glass insertion depth or adding insulating materials around the perimeter.

V-Glass, a U.S.-based research and development company focused on advancing vacuum insulating glass (VIG), has secured $3 million in seed funding led by the Grantham Foundation for the Protection of the Environment and its affiliate, Neglected Climate Opportunities. The investment is complemented by a $1 million grant from the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, reinforcing support for the company’s transition from laboratory development to pilot-scale manufacturing.

Headquartered in Waukesha, V-Glass is developing a room-temperature, high-speed ultrasonic welding process designed to produce low-conductivity edge seals for VIG units. This approach eliminates the need for high-temperature sealing methods, which are typically energy-intensive and limit scalability. The company is integrating this process with a refined spacer system and plasma-based vacuum degassing to enable faster and more cost-efficient production cycles.

The funding will be directed toward advancing automation and manufacturing capabilities, with a focus on establishing a pilot production facility. This marks a critical step in demonstrating the commercial viability of V-Glass’ technology and validating its performance at scale.

VIG is increasingly recognized as a high-performance glazing solution, but cost has remained a key barrier to widespread adoption. By targeting both process efficiency and material performance, V-Glass aims to reduce production costs while maintaining ultra-low thermal conductivity.

With buildings losing a significant portion of heat through windows, the company’s innovation is positioned to address a major inefficiency in the built environment, supporting both energy savings and decarbonization goals.

Swisspacer has unveiled its latest innovation for insulating glass manufacturing: Frame:racer, a fully automated system designed to streamline spacer frame production and significantly improve manufacturing efficiency. Developed in collaboration with an established OEM partner, the new solution addresses the growing industry demand for faster, more reliable and highly automated insulating glass production processes.

As insulating glass manufacturers face increasing pressure to optimise production within limited factory space while maintaining consistent quality, automation is becoming a key strategic tool. The Frame:racer system enables manufacturers to stabilise processes, reduce manual labour and allow skilled operators to focus on more specialised tasks that require technical expertise.

Frame:racer: Fully automated frame production – cycle times of less than 20 seconds – © Swisspacer

The system manages the entire spacer frame production process through a series of precisely coordinated stations. Swisspacer spacer bars are automatically guided from profile feeding and frame assembly to filling, ensuring a seamless and continuous insertion workflow. A dynamic storage system for spacer bars and corner keys further enhances the process by enabling uninterrupted frame production and simplified order handling.

One of the most significant advantages of the system is its efficiency. Depending on the production setup, only one operator is required, compared to as many as four workers typically needed in manual frame assembly. The system is designed to operate autonomously for several hours, supporting higher productivity while lowering operational effort.

The name Frame:racer reflects the system’s purpose. “Frame” refers to the finished spacer frame, while “Racer” highlights the machine’s ability to achieve cycle times of less than 20 seconds while maintaining precision and reliability. High cycle speeds help reduce downtime, minimise rework and create stable production conditions, particularly for large-scale insulating glass manufacturers handling high volumes.

UKO Glass has strengthened its insulated glass unit (IGU) manufacturing capabilities with the installation of a new LIVA 1-LCYM-S 25-321/6 production line, marking a significant step forward in automation, efficiency and output capacity.

The newly installed system is designed to optimise almost every stage of IGU production, delivering operating speeds reported to be up to three times faster than previous processes. The upgrade enables daily production capacity of up to 500m², while accommodating glass thicknesses from 3mm to 19mm and supporting triple-glazed configurations up to 70mm thick. Oversized units up to 3.2 x 2.5 metres can also be processed thanks to an integrated tilt table, expanding the company’s flexibility for large architectural glazing projects.

A key feature of the new line is its automated gas-filling technology. Unlike conventional systems that require manual filling after assembly, the integrated press uses built-in calculations to complete gas filling inside the production cycle. This removes an additional handling stage, reduces labour input, and ensures units exit the press ready for sealing, supporting faster throughput while maintaining consistent quality standards.

The line also incorporates intelligent detection systems capable of recognising coated glass and confirming correct orientation before processing. This automated verification minimises the risk of human error and helps ensure smoother workflow continuity across the factory floor.

With the new machinery handling nearly the entire IGU assembly process, excluding final sealing, UKO Glass has reduced reliance on multiple standalone machines. The resulting floor-space efficiency has allowed the company to expand its dispatch area, supporting increased daily output as demand grows.

Commenting on the investment, Production Manager Tony McAspurn described the system as a major leap forward, highlighting improvements in speed, precision and workflow efficiency. The upgrade aligns with broader industry trends toward greater automation and high-volume manufacturing in IGU production, enabling manufacturers to meet rising demand for higher-performance glazing solutions in both commercial and residential sectors

Founded in 1995, Termopan Glass has established itself as a reliable provider of flat-glass solutions across residential, commercial, and architectural projects. Based in Bujanovac, Serbia, the company combines decades of experience with technical expertise in glass processing, tempering, and installation. This enables Termopan Glass to deliver a comprehensive, turnkey service to clients seeking both high-quality materials and professional glazing solutions.

Termopan Glass sources its raw glass exclusively from leading European manufacturers such as Guardian Glass and AGC. These suppliers are renowned for producing high-performance float glass with superior durability, clarity, and thermal efficiency, essential qualities in modern architecture. By integrating these premium materials into its workflow, the company ensures that each project meets stringent quality and safety standards.

Termopan Glass Projects

The company offers a wide range of glass applications, including office partitions, glass walls, stair railings with tempered curved glass, balcony glazing, and bathroom partitions. Unlike firms that solely distribute raw glass, Termopan Glass provides end-to-end services: project design, technical consultation, precise processing, installation, and finishing. This approach aligns with contemporary industry practices, where mid-sized regional processors bridge the gap between large-scale glass manufacturers and local construction projects.

Termopan Glass Installation

Technical precision is central to the company’s operations. In the architectural glazing industry, tempered glass is a key safety standard. The tempering process involves heating glass to approximately 650–700°C and rapidly cooling it to induce internal stresses, increasing strength up to five times compared to standard annealed glass. Tempered glass also shatters into small, less dangerous fragments if broken, making it suitable for balconies, railings, shower cabins, and high-traffic partitions. Termopan Glass ensures that all cutting, drilling, and edge-finishing occur prior to tempering, a critical requirement in the sector. For projects requiring additional safety or acoustic insulation, laminated glass and insulated glazing units (IGUs) are also incorporated.

Termopan Glass

Compliance with European and local building standards is essential. EN 12150 certification governs thermally tempered glass, while proper installation ensures structural integrity and safety. Termopan Glass’s technical expertise extends to precise measurement, edge finishing, and installation techniques that prevent stress fractures, maintain structural stability, and ensure longevity. Environmental responsibility is also an industry consideration: recycling and proper handling of end-of-life glass (cullet) are increasingly important to reduce energy consumption and support sustainability initiatives.

Termopan Glass

Operating as TERMOPAN-GLASS DOO BUJANOVAC, the company employs approximately 30–35 staff members and has achieved consistent regional growth. Its dual focus on processing and glazing positions it as a vital link in the European flat-glass value chain, transforming raw glass into finished, ready-to-install architectural products.

In conclusion, Termopan Glass exemplifies the standards, precision, and technical knowledge required in the modern glazing industry. By combining premium materials, advanced processing, and expert installation, the company provides durable, safe, and aesthetically refined solutions, making it a trusted partner for complex architectural glass projects.

Forel S.p.A., the Italian innovator in glass processing machinery, has introduced a revolutionary production solution for triple‑glazed insulating glass units (IGUs) featuring ultra‑thin centre panes and a flexible spacer. This system addresses the growing market demand for high‑performance glazing that combines superior thermal and acoustic insulation with reduced weight.

At the core of the innovation is a fully automated flexible spacer applicator with an automatic reel changeover and a final corner closing device. These features ensure precise spacer placement while maintaining high production speeds. A dedicated coupling press assembles the triple unit in a single cavity, allowing the sealing robot to complete the IGU in one pass. This process supports ultra‑thin glass sheets, down to approximately 1 mm, without compromising structural integrity.

Additional software-enabled functionalities include automatic muntin/Georgian bar slit incision, facilitating grid mounting, and the ability to process various glass shapes, offering manufacturers greater design flexibility. Despite being a triple-glass unit, the “thin triple” configuration maintains almost the same overall dimensions and weight as conventional double glazing, allowing easy integration into existing window frames and hardware.

Forel’s innovation not only enhances production efficiency but also provides architects, fabricators, and homeowners with a high-performance glazing solution suitable for both residential new builds and replacement projects.

GlassBuild America 2025, held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, showcased the latest developments in glass, glazing, hardware, and architectural metal industries. The event provided a platform for companies to announce new initiatives, display products, and strengthen business relationships.

Vitro Architectural Glass announced a long-term agreement to manufacture VacuMax vacuum insulating glass (VIG) units in North America. The partnership with VIG Technologies and LandVac allows Vitro to acquire equipment and licensing for domestic production, aiming to accelerate VIG adoption. Vitro president Ricardo Maiz stated, “This agreement positions us to meet growing demand for VIG products and streamline the supply chain with direct shipping. It’s a key step toward expanding VIG production across multiple lines and locations in North America.”

LiteSentry-Softsolution highlighted its Osprey 25 system, a 360-degree distortion scanning platform that combines LiteSentry’s Osprey Complete with Softsolution’s LineScanner. Development manager John Singleton explained the system consolidates distortion, anisotropy, and defect inspection results into a single software package, streamlining quality control and eliminating separate data processing.

Software innovations also took center stage. A+W Software introduced its Order Entry Artificial Intelligence system, while Seclock launched Source Mode, a web-based platform offering an app-like experience for project management, quoting, and submittals. Angela Blankenship from Seclock emphasized the tool helps small- to medium-sized companies manage projects, budgets, and submittals efficiently online.

GlassBuild returns in 2026 in Las Vegas, continuing to serve as a hub for industry innovation.
