With this project, HORN Glass Industries underlines its international project expertise in the field of turn-key glass plant solutions. The plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and will make a significant contribution to expanding glass production capacities in the region.

Of particular importance for the realization of the project is the financing, which is being structured in cooperation with Commerzbank AG and AKA Bank. The financing framework provides the foundation for the successful execution of the project and underlines the confidence of all parties in its long-term prospects.
The delivery of the equipment is scheduled for 2027. Commissioning of the new glass plant is planned for 2028.

As part of the engineering programme, Nikolaus SORG redesigned the entire furnace concept, bringing the installation in line with the latest state-of-the-art furnace technologies. The primary goal of the reconstruction was to increase melting capacity from 180 to 215 tonnes per day, while also extending furnace lifespan, improving energy efficiency, and reducing operational emissions — key priorities for modern container glass production.

The reconstructed system includes a regenerative endport furnace with a melting area of approximately 65 square metres, dedicated to flint container glass production. To support the upgraded performance, SORG supplied a new boosting system consisting of both melting and barrier boosters, alongside a SORG STW working end designed to optimise glass conditioning and flow stability.

Further modernisation was achieved through the integration of two CPO 400D feeding machines supplied by EME, another company within the SORG Group. These upgrades are expected to improve batch charging consistency, contributing to both higher production efficiency and improved quality control.

Installation and commissioning activities, including furnace steel assembly, refractory installation, heating, filling and start-up, were supervised by service specialists from Nikolaus SORG and SKS, ensuring a smooth transition to operation.

With the reconstruction now completed, the project highlights how strategic furnace modernisation can extend asset life while meeting today’s energy and sustainability demands. The SORG Group expressed its appreciation for the continued collaboration and trust shown by the PGI team, marking the start of a new furnace campaign designed for long-term performance and reliability.
