PCL Construction is among 100 companies Fortune ranked as the best organizations to work for in 2025. The annual ranking recognizes companies that build a high-trust workplace environment. Companies are assessed on their ability to create a great employee experience that cuts across job level, business unit, race, gender, age, disability status or any aspect of employee identity.

PCL is a group of independent construction companies that operates throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Australia. It completes more than $7 billion in work annually. According to company officials, PCL’s 100% employee ownership model fuels a culture of commitment for clients in the buildings, civil infrastructure, heavy industrial and solar markets.

“As a 100% employee-owned company, this is truly a shared honor with our workforce,” says Deron Brown, PCL president and chief operating officer of U.S. operations. “Being named to Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list for the 16th time is a testament to the dynamic culture created by our employee-owners. Today’s labor market is more competitive than ever. Yet, together, we continue to attract top talent by offering a collaborative, supportive environment where employees can see themselves building a long-term career.”

According to Great Place to Work, which partnered with Fortune to create the list, feedback from more than 1.3 million U.S. employees is matched against HR data from participating companies. Only companies with consistently high survey responses across the 60 statements that comprise the Trust Index Survey are included on the list. Companies are also only considered for the list if they are a Great Place to Work Certified organization with 1,000 or more employees in the U.S.

This is the third year in a row PCL has been recognized as the only general contractor on the list.

In the heart of Albania’s capital city stands a monument with a storied past – the Pyramid of Tirana, once a museum dedicated to the communist dictator Enver Hoxha, now reborn as a vibrant cultural hub thanks to the visionary redesign by the renowned architectural firm MVRDM.

The transformation of the Pyramid is nothing short of remarkable. What was once a symbol of a bygone era now stands as a beacon of modernity and accessibility, welcoming the public to explore its new offerings. With a height of 24.5 meters and a central point reaching 20.2 meters, the Pyramid spans an impressive 12,000 square meters, providing ample space for educational facilities, commercial ventures, and public gatherings.

Central to the redesign was the incorporation of cutting-edge materials to enhance the visitor experience. In response to the architect’s specifications for increased light transmission and reduced light reflection, Guardian’s choice of SN 70S glass proved to be the perfect solution. This high-performance glass not only met the project’s technical requirements but also added a touch of sophistication to the Pyramid’s aesthetic.

The revitalization of the Pyramid of Tirana serves as a testament to the power of architectural innovation and cultural renewal. By breathing new life into this iconic structure, MVRDM has not only preserved a piece of Albania’s history but has also created a dynamic space where the past and present converge harmoniously.

As the Pyramid opens its doors to the public, it invites visitors to embark on a journey of discovery and exploration. Whether you are drawn to its educational offerings, commercial opportunities, or simply the allure of its public spaces, the Pyramid of Tirana stands as a symbol of transformation and possibility in the heart of the city.

The MVRDV design team’s work integrates and envelops the existing structure, utilizing it as a blueprint for the addition of publicly accessible spaces and educational boxes. Colorful clusters of rooms for education and activities are dispersed within and around the structure and park. These vibrant additions can be seen atop the building and in the park, creating a festive ambiance.

Approximately half of these areas will accommodate the non-profit educational institution TUMO Tirana, which offers free after-school education in modern disciplines like software, robotics, animation, music, and film for 12 to 18-year-olds. Established in Armenia in 2011 and now expanded across Europe, TUMO aims to provide education and opportunities as a means to combat emigration threats to economies, such as that of Albania. The remaining colorful boxes will be open to the public, offering rental spaces for cafes, restaurants, offices, laboratories, incubators, studios, and more.
In conclusion, the redesign of the Pyramid of Tirana by MVRDM represents a bold step forward in the evolution of Albania’s cultural landscape. With its blend of history, innovation, and accessibility, this architectural marvel is poised to become a cornerstone of Tirana’s cultural identity for generations to come.

Tianjin NorthGlass Redefines Architectural Brilliance with Super-Thick Curtain Wall Glass at Wellington Convention Center

In a remarkable fusion of innovation and architectural finesse, Tianjin NorthGlass has introduced a groundbreaking super-thick curtain wall glass with a polymer material net, elevating the aesthetics of the Wellington Convention Center. Situated in the heart of New Zealand’s capital, this 18,000 square meters large-scale infrastructure marvel marks a significant milestone in Wellington’s urban development over the past two decades, with NorthGlass at the forefront of this transformative project.

Named Takina, translating to “call,” the convention center embodies a space for communication and contemplation. Wellington, renowned as the “capital of the wind,” inspired the design to mimic its diverse winds and undulating landscape, creating organic and dynamic architectural features. To realize this vision, Tianjin NorthGlass pioneered an innovative glass process, delivering a stunning form that solidifies the Convention Center as a new landmark in Wellington.

The building boasts a 1300 square meters curved glass facade, ranging from 0.5 to 5 meters in size. Crafting the curved glass posed a significant challenge, particularly in polymer network cutting and positioning. NorthGlass meticulously tested different polymer network sizes to ensure precise control, achieving an astounding accuracy of within 1.5mm from the glass edge.

The entire structure is enveloped in a soft, flowing glass skin, accentuated by a bronzed metal layer on the polymer network. This unique combination imparts a radiant glow to the Wellington Convention Center, rendering it a mesmerizing spectacle that undergoes captivating visual transformations under varying lighting conditions.

Designed to accommodate over 10,000 square meters of flexible conference and exhibition space, the Wellington Convention Center leverages cutting-edge technologies to showcase the region’s contemporary design and cultural heritage. As a testament to its commitment to sustainability, the center has received a prestigious five-star New Zealand Greenstar rating. The curtain wall system incorporates sustainable functions and adaptive systems, resulting in a remarkable 60-70% reduction in carbon emissions and energy usage compared to similar structures.

Tianjin NorthGlass, a globally acclaimed manufacturer of high-end building glass, exemplifies its commitment to sustainable development. Collaborating with architects and experts worldwide, the company continues to pioneer innovative products, including the intelligent metal net shading glass at Beijing Daxing International Airport and super-thick energy-saving glass at Beijing Municipal Administrative Center Library. These endeavors underscore NorthGlass’s dedication to contributing to sustainable building practices and creating a better life for communities and the environment.
