<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://mlsystem.pl/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">ML System</a></strong> has signed a three-year exclusive agreement with Şişecam, Europe’s largest flat glass producer, to supply Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) solutions in Turkey. The partnership introduces the <strong>“Şişecam BIPV by ML System”</strong> line, based on ML System’s PhotonWall technology, which integrates <strong>photovoltaic cells directly into glass facades and rooftops</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The product line was officially presented at <strong>BAU Munich 2025</strong>, a leading construction trade fair. ML System’s CSO Jan Strzałkowski showcased PhotonWall’s capabilities in real-life applications, highlighting energy-generating glass panels for commercial and residential buildings.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Şişecam conducted <strong>technical audits of ML System’s production facilities</strong>, confirming the high quality of manufacturing, performance reliability of the glass modules, and their market competitiveness. The audits validated the readiness of PhotonWall for large-scale deployment in architectural projects.</p>

This move reflects Şişecam’s commitment to sustainability and the growing demand for <strong>eco-efficient, energy-generating building materials</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">PhotonWall remains the cornerstone of ML System’s strategy to <strong>scale photovoltaic solutions for facades and rooftops</strong>, enabling buildings in Turkey to generate clean energy without compromising design aesthetics.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://mlsystem.pl/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">ML System</a> will supply its advanced PhotonWall glass photovoltaic modules for the new headquarters of <strong>ING Deutschland</strong>, part of the Hafenpark Quartier Office (HPQO) development in Frankfurt’s dynamic Ostend district, adjacent to the European Central Bank. The 16-storey building, spanning 32,000 m² of office space, is designed as a <strong>fossil-free, energy-efficient landmark</strong>, targeting the <strong>LEED Platinum</strong> certification.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The project features approximately <strong>2,400 m² of integrated Building Integrated <strong>Photovoltaics</strong> (BIPV)</strong>, enabling the façade to actively generate renewable energy. ML System’s PhotonWall modules will not only enhance the building’s energy performance but also seamlessly merge aesthetics with functionality, a hallmark of modern sustainable architecture.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Researchers at Concordia University in Montreal have developed an <strong>adaptive BIPV/T (building-integrated photovoltaic/thermal) curtainwall</strong> that actively produces energy while enhancing indoor comfort. Unlike conventional facades, it integrates <strong>semitransparent photovoltaic modules</strong>, a thermal air channel, four controllable air inlets, and two operable dampers, all managed by an <em>intelligent control system</em>. The facade continuously monitors outdoor temperature, solar radiation, and building thermal demand, dynamically switching between single- and dual-inlet operation to optimize electricity and heat production.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In winter, it prioritizes heat extraction, preheating ventilation air for the HVAC system and reducing space heating loads. In summer, it acts as a <strong>ventilated cooling facade</strong>, lowering PV panel temperatures to improve electrical conversion efficiency while limiting solar heat gain indoors. When energy production is unnecessary, the system switches to thermal buffer mode, reducing heat loss through the envelope.</p>

These designs use photovoltaics and smart control of ventilation to get to the ultimate goal of an entirely energy-independent structure.</figcaption></figure>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Designed for modular prefabrication, each unit uses <strong>aluminum framing</strong>, <strong>operable dampers</strong>, and <strong>factory-assembled PV glazing</strong>, allowing plug-and-play installation with conventional curtainwall techniques. Simulation studies with Canadian climate data show energy yields 2–25% higher than standard BIPV/T systems, particularly under low-irradiance winter conditions.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">By combining <strong>smart thermal and electrical management</strong> with scalable modular design, this adaptive curtainwall offers a practical, climate-responsive solution for net-zero-ready buildings and retrofits, positioning Canada as a leader in <strong>energy-active facade technologies</strong>.</p>
