Saint-Gobain Partners with Microsoft to Advance AI and Low-Carbon Data Center Construction

Saint-Gobain has signed a strategic framework agreement with Microsoft to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across its operations while supporting the development of low-carbon infrastructure and next-generation data centers.

The partnership focuses on two key objectives. First, Saint-Gobain will deploy Microsoft’s cloud and AI technologies to improve productivity, enhance customer experiences, accelerate innovation, and support its net-zero ambitions. By combining Microsoft’s digital capabilities with Saint-Gobain’s manufacturing expertise, the company aims to further reduce CO₂ emissions and energy consumption across its production facilities while accelerating the development of sustainable construction materials for the residential, non-residential, and infrastructure sectors.

The second objective centers on supporting Microsoft’s expanding global data center footprint. Saint-Gobain will supply integrated building solutions that improve construction speed, safety, resilience, and environmental performance. Its portfolio includes prefabricated sandwich panels, structural ceiling grids for high-capacity cabling, antistatic flooring systems, fire-rated glazing, high-performance insulation, polymer cooling tubes, low-carbon concrete admixtures, and low-carbon glass.

Saint-Gobain has already established a strong position in this market, with 1,085 data center projects currently at the specification stage across 32 countries, representing almost double the pipeline recorded a year ago.

The company is also expanding AI throughout its business. AI-powered tools are generating customized sales quotations in 250 building materials distribution outlets in France, while AI-driven tender analysis has increased sales conversion rates by 10%. In research and development, AI has reduced the development time for certain new formulations by up to 40%, while also enhancing manufacturing efficiency, supply chain optimization, and business processes.
