Reynaers Group Advances Sustainability with New 2024-2030 Roadmap

Reynaers Group has released its annual sustainability report, Our Sustainable Road Ahead 2024–2030, detailing measurable progress in reducing its environmental footprint. The report highlights an 8.5% reduction in operational carbon and a 13.6% reduction in embodied carbon, crediting the company’s comprehensive sustainability strategy as the driving force behind these achievements.

Building on initial benchmarks set in 2019, Reynaers is now at the halfway point toward its Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) goals of a 46.2% absolute reduction and 55% relative reduction in emissions by 2030. Central to this strategy is the company’s campaign, Sustainability. From Every Angle, which encourages the construction sector to adopt a more holistic approach to sustainability, moving beyond the traditional focus solely on embodied carbon.

Key Achievements Highlighted in the Report:

  • Decarbonisation of aluminium systems: footprint reduced from 5.16 kg CO₂ eq./kg (2019) to 4.13 kg CO₂ eq./kg (2024), with a target of 2.81 kg CO₂ eq./kg by 2030.
  • Operational improvements: 8.5% reduction in operational carbon.
  • Embodied carbon reductions: 13.6% decrease in embodied carbon.
  • Infrastructure investments: low-energy campuses in Poland and Switzerland.
  • Sustainable mobility: adoption of electric vehicle fleets.
  • Eco-design initiatives: product circularity and environmental-friendly design.
  • Cradle to Cradle certified systems: 15 systems across 50+ variants, including MasterLine, ConceptSystem 77, SlimLine 38, MasterPatio, HiFinity, ConceptWall, ElementFacade 7, and SlimWall 35.

John McComb, technical director and sustainability champion at Reynaers Aluminium, emphasized the evolving nature of sustainability:

“It is essential to understand that sustainability is constantly evolving, and to adequately reduce our environmental impact, we must be adaptable and foster a culture of continuous education and change within the industry. The gains highlighted in this report demonstrate the importance of assessing our environmental impact from every angle and taking ownership of it to ensure true long-term sustainability for the built environment.“

Reynaers has also hosted a webinar outlining its sustainable journey and plans further sessions in 2026 to explore new perspectives on sustainable construction.
