GMS Inc., a leading North American specialty building products distributor, has announced the acquisition of Yvon Building Supply Inc. and its affiliated companies, including Laminated Glass Technologies Inc.
This strategic move strengthens GMS’s foothold in the greater Toronto market and expands its product and service offerings in the Ontario region.
Yvon, a well-established distributor of building supplies such as glass, drywall, insulation, steel, and ceilings, generated approximately $142 million in net revenues for the 12 months ended May 31, 2024. The acquisition will enable GMS to enhance its service capabilities and provide a broader range of complementary products to its customers in southern Ontario.
“We are pleased to welcome the Yvon team to GMS Canada and look forward to expanding our core and complementary products in the greater Toronto market,” said John C. Turner Jr., President and CEO of GMS. “This transaction aligns with our strategic focus on enhancing our service and product offerings in key geographic regions.”
The $143 million purchase price will be funded through a combination of cash on hand and borrowings from GMS’s revolving credit facility. Notably, more than a quarter of the purchase price is scheduled to be paid over the next five years, demonstrating GMS’s commitment to a thoughtful and measured integration process.
This acquisition marks a significant milestone for GMS as it continues to grow its presence in the Canadian market. By leveraging Yvon’s strong market position and extensive product portfolio, GMS aims to solidify its position as a premier provider of building supplies and related services in the greater Toronto area and across Ontario.
The successful completion of this transaction underscores GMS’s ability to identify and execute strategic acquisitions that align with its long-term growth objectives. As the company continues to expand its footprint and enhance its offerings, customers in the Ontario region can expect to benefit from the combined expertise and resources of the GMS and Yvon teams.
