Glaston announced another vital investment in the Balkan region through its partnership with Pavle Pancevo, a well-established glass processing company in Serbia.
This collaboration epitomizes the spirit of progress in the sector as Pavle Pancevo prepares to utilize the advanced Jumbo oven and insulation line, which is instrumental in producing the largest insulating glass (IG) units in the Balkans.
Jelena Blagojevic, the Marketing Manager of Pavle, highlighted the capabilities of the new technology, stating, “With our Glaston Jumbo oven and insulation line, we can now produce the largest IG units in the Balkans, and our business is taking off internationally. The line helps us serve architects who want ever larger, quality windows for offices, schools, and even shopping centers, with glass sizes up to 3.5 meters or more.” This statement underlines the critical role that innovative technology plays in expanding business horizons and meeting contemporary architectural demands.
Pavle Pancevo’s journey is inspiring, characterized by its founder Pavle Tmusić’s humble beginnings as a delivery driver for glass products. Driven by ambition and a desire for growth, Tmusić transitioned into a sales role, eventually establishing Pavle Pancevo with his late wife Zorica in 1992. The company has since evolved, becoming synonymous with quality in glass processing and setting industry standards.
The Tmušić family’s dedication to their business is palpable. At the helm of the company are Jelena Tmušić Blagojevic, the Marketing Manager; Marko Tmušić, the General Manager; and Marija Jovicevic, the CFO—all children of the founder, Pavle Tmušić. Their journey from summer jobs to key leadership roles illustrates a seamless transition that honors the company’s legacy while paving the way for future growth.
“We’re very family-oriented at Pavle. We take care of the business even more because we’re all involved—it’s an inherent part of our lives,” Jelena shares. This strong familial bond not only fosters a positive workplace culture but also enhances the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. With Pavle having started the business from scratch, his children take immense pride in witnessing the company’s growth and evolution over the years.
In 2006, Pavle made a pivotal investment in a Glaston tempering line—the ProE. At that time, information about glass processing machinery was not as accessible as it is today. Determined to find the best technology, Pavle traveled to meet various manufacturers. Each visit reinforced the notion that Glaston and Tamglass offered superior machinery. This led him to Finland, where he quickly recognized that the ProE would be the perfect fit for his company. The acquisition of this furnace positioned Pavle as a leader in the Serbian market, providing a strong foundation for future advancements. The decision to invest in Glaston machinery has proven to be a game-changer for Pavle. “We’re thankful for that decision,” Jelena reflects. “It wasn’t easy then—and it wasn’t any easier this time either, because the Jumbo line was a huge investment for us.” After evaluating multiple bids, the family concluded that the quality of their existing Glaston ProE, along with the exceptional service and installation support, made the choice clear. This commitment to quality has set Glaston apart from competitors and reinforced Pavle’s reputation in the industry.
In February 2022, Pavle took delivery of the Glaston Jumbo line, which commenced operations that summer. To accommodate this state-of-the-art machinery, Pavle constructed a new facility equipped with all necessary auxiliary equipment. Marko Tmušić emphasizes the importance of leveraging the furnace’s size: “We can process a lot of glass simultaneously, which drastically improves our production time.” This efficiency means that orders can be completed in as little as 7 to 10 days, significantly enhancing delivery timelines.
The transition to the Jumbo line was not without its challenges. Initial issues with anisotropy were swiftly resolved with guidance from Glaston’s Area Sales Manager, Vesna Pavlovic. “Since then, we haven’t had any problems at all,” Marko notes. The training provided to operators ensured a smooth transition, allowing them to enjoy the benefits of increased production speed and capacity.
Pavle Tmušić is not resting on its laurels. The family is focused on future growth, with plans to upgrade their existing lamination line and add an insulating glass (IG) line along with edge polishing machinery. “We aim to expand more into the international market,” Jelena states, highlighting their recent success in supplying glass for high-rise construction projects in the United States. With Pavle certified to produce bird-protection glass featuring minimal visibility lines, their products are now comparable to the best in the world in terms of quality.
In conclusion, the Tmušić family’s unwavering commitment to their business and its values has not only fostered a thriving enterprise but has also positioned Pavle Tmušić as a leader in glass processing. Their story is a testament to the power of family, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence in an ever-evolving industry. As they continue to innovate and expand, the future looks bright for this family affair of care.
