Gauzy Secures $7 Million to Restart Smart Glass Production

Gauzy Ltd. has secured $7 million in equity financing to resume production of its SPD-SmartGlass technology, following a court-approved settlement addressing approximately $61 million in liabilities. The development marks a key step toward restoring manufacturing operations in Israel and Germany after financial and legal difficulties disrupted production and customer programmes in November 2025.

Completed on 15 October 2026, the financing was led by Gauzy CEO Eyal Peso and other investors. Research Frontiers Inc., the licensor of the suspended particle device (SPD) technology used by Gauzy, confirmed that payments have begun to support the production restart.

The planned recovery covers two key operations: SPD emulsion production in Israel and SPD light-control film manufacturing in Germany. However, no date has been announced for the return to full manufacturing capacity.

SPD-SmartGlass enables electronic control over the amount of light, glare and heat passing through glazing. Its applications include architectural façades, automotive glazing, aviation and other sectors where adjustable light transmission can improve comfort and performance.

Research Frontiers is also advancing an SPD-SmartGlass retrofit solution for existing buildings. The concept aims to introduce electronically controlled glazing without requiring the replacement of installed windows, potentially expanding the technology’s reach in renovation projects.
