Forterro has successfully completed the largest deployment to date of its Logikal MES software at the production facility of Architectural Metal Systems (AMS) in Cork, Ireland. The installation marks a significant step in AMS’s strategy to digitalise and optimise its aluminium fabrication operations.
The system has been implemented at AMS’s 400,000 sq ft manufacturing site and integrates seamlessly with Forterro’s Logikal aluminium processing software. Together, the solutions provide complete visibility, control and traceability across the entire production workflow, helping fabricators improve efficiency while reducing operational errors.
At the Cork facility, the Logikal MES system now manages three distinct fabrication routes simultaneously. These include a high-volume production line for windows, doors and curtain walling, as well as dedicated routes for sliding doors and bespoke doors used in data centre projects. All machining and assembly stations across these lines are connected through a single software framework.
The system captures the start and end of each production operation automatically using barcode scanning. Operators receive real-time instructions on production screens, while each assembly stage is monitored under Factory Process Control (FPC). AMS has also migrated its existing quality control procedures into the MES platform, enabling a more streamlined and traceable production environment.
In addition to production monitoring, the system generates customer-ready labels and documentation at key assembly points. This approach ensures accurate product identification earlier in the process and helps minimise delays between manufacturing completion and final dispatch.
