Italian glass processing technology specialist Forel recently welcomed a delegation of industry professionals from the United Kingdom and Ireland to its headquarters for another edition of its Glass Processing Demo Days, a technical event dedicated to innovation in automated glass production.

Held on February 24, the event brought together representatives from a wide range of glass processing companies, alongside senior professionals from major glass manufacturers and suppliers of glazing components and sealants. The gathering created a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and industry dialogue.

A central focus of the day was high-speed automation in insulating glass production. Visitors had the opportunity to observe live demonstrations of Forel’s advanced machinery, including technologies designed for the production of triple-glazed insulating glass units (IGUs) using thin glass as the inner pane. This configuration is increasingly gaining attention for its ability to enhance thermal performance while reducing overall unit weight.

Particular interest was also generated around Forel’s new FG range, developed for simultaneous high-speed edge grinding and seaming, a solution aimed at improving productivity while maintaining high processing precision and glass quality.

Throughout the demonstrations, participants were able to closely observe the machines in operation and engage directly with Forel’s technical team, sparking discussions around production efficiency, automation strategies, and the growing importance of energy-efficient glazing solutions.

Beyond the technical presentations, the event also served as an opportunity to experience Forel’s manufacturing environment and approach to innovation.
