FGIA’s Amy Roberts to Present Canadian Codes and Standards Updates at Top Glass West

Amy Roberts, Canadian Codes and Advocacy Director at the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA), will open Top Glass West on October 21 with a presentation focused on the latest developments in Canadian building codes, glass standards and glazing requirements.

Scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Roberts’ session will provide industry professionals with updates on regulatory changes and proposals that could affect future projects and manufacturing practices. Among the topics will be Canada’s first code limit on allowable interior heat in the British Columbia Building Code, new solar heat gain limits in the National Building Code, and the shutdown of the Canadian General Standards Board and its implications for glass standards.

Roberts will also preview proposed changes for the 2030 code cycle, including potential revisions to wired glass requirements, window opening control devices and new prescriptive compliance pathways under Tier 2 of the National Energy Building Code. Proposed affordability considerations in future code changes will also be discussed.

With more than 25 years of experience in glass and insulating glass manufacturing and window production, Roberts leads FGIA’s Canadian codes and regulatory initiatives. Her presentation will offer attendees insight into ongoing developments within the committees responsible for shaping Canada’s building and glazing requirements.
