Bucher Industries Appoints Emhart Glass President Matthias Kümmerle as Future CEO

Bucher Emhart Glass’ divisional president has been appointed group CEO.

Matthias Kümmerle, who is currently present of Emhart Glass, has been appointed as the CEO of its parent company Bucher Industries.

Mr Kümmerle will take over the role as CEO after the company’s annual general meeting in 2026.

The 52-year-old, who has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich, Switzerland) and a PhD in mechatronics, robotics and automation engineering from EPFL in Lausanne (Switzerland), joined Emhart Glass as head of technology in 2011.

He took over as division president of Bucher Emhart Glass in 2021, becoming a member of group management at the same time.

He has since succeeded in expanding the division’s market position and increasing its profitability.

Under his leadership, the division also decisively advanced the automation of glass forming machines and expanded its service portfolio.

Bucher Industries said: “The board of directors is confident that they have found a highly qualified successor as CEO for Bucher Industries in Matthias Kümmerle, who is already deeply familiar with the company and its culture.

“The search for the next division president of Bucher Emhart Glass has begun.”

The five divisions within the Bucher Industries group are Bucher Municipal, Kuhn Group, Bucher Hydraulics, Bucher Specials as well as Bucher Emhart Glass.

Mr Kümmerle will succeed Jacques Sanche who will step down in 2026.
