Budapest’s architectural landscape now hosts a striking new landmark: Richter Gedeon’s flagship headquarters, designed by ZDA | Zoboki Design & Architecture. Situated on Gyömrői Road in Kőbánya – a site historically tied to the company – the building merges heritage, innovation, and high-performance design.

Facade as a Symbol of Precision

The 17,400 sqm headquarters is enveloped by a sculptural glass curtain wall that defines its visual identity. Carefully designed sun-shading lamellae – 600 in total – modulate daylight, enhance energy efficiency, and animate the facade with patterns that mirror the precision of pharmaceutical R&D within. The glass panels balance transparency and privacy, connecting interior spaces to green rooftops, reflective water surfaces, and landscaped surroundings while creating a dynamic interplay of light, shadow, and reflection.

Design and Collaboration

The project was led by architects Gábor Zoboki and András Csiszér, with the design team including Bánsági Dávid, Cserháti Csinszka, Finta Endre, Borzák Richárd, Galgóczy Bonifác, Jaczó Anna, and Seidl Krisztián. Numerous partners contributed, from VISION Építésziroda and Lab5 Építésziroda to Objekt Tájépítész Iroda and Arató Akusztika Kft., reflecting a collaborative approach that integrated architecture, engineering, acoustics, and landscape design.

Interior Flow and Sustainability

Inside, a central atrium and sculptural staircases promote interaction, while natural materials – wood, glass, and plaster – create a calming, productive environment. LEED Gold certification underlines the building’s environmental performance: 183 geothermal probes provide efficient heating and cooling, 2,500 sqm of green roofs, 2,600 indoor plants, and 52 newly planted trees support biodiversity, while sun-shading elements reduce energy demand.

Richter Gedeon’s new headquarters exemplifies how a glass curtain wall can do more than define a building’s exterior, it becomes a symbol of transparency, innovation, and meticulous craftsmanship, perfectly reflecting the company’s identity and global ambitions.
