ASSA ABLOY Expands Its U.S. Footprint with the Acquisition of International Door Products

ASSA ABLOY has strengthened its presence in the U.S. market with the acquisition of International Door Products (IDP), a long-established manufacturer specializing in standard and custom fire-rated steel door frames. The move aligns with ASSA ABLOY’s strategy of expanding its offer in mature markets by adding complementary solutions to its existing portfolio.

Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition. “I am very pleased to welcome IDP to ASSA ABLOY. This acquisition delivers on our strategy to strengthen our position in mature markets through adding complementary products and solutions to our core business,” he said.

Lucas Boselli, Executive Vice President of ASSA ABLOY and Head of the Americas Division, highlighted the benefits for customers in the region.

This acquisition marks an exciting milestone for ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Americas as we welcome International Door Products Inc. into our family. IDP’s premium product portfolio and rapid lead times complement our existing capabilities, ensuring we can meet the evolving needs of construction markets with speed and excellence.

Founded in 1977, IDP operates from its main office and manufacturing facility in Southfield, Michigan, where it employs around 80 people. In 2024, the company reached sales of approximately USD 29 million (around SEK 300 million) and delivered a strong EBIT margin. According to ASSA ABLOY, the acquisition will be accretive to earnings per share from day one.
