Chigwell Window Centre has gone live with Forterro’s LogiKal MES production tracking system, marking one of the first UK installations of the advanced manufacturing execution software. The system was introduced as part of Chigwell’s brand-new 42,000 sq ft facility at Centurion Business Park, Colchester, designed to consolidate all manufacturing and distribution under one roof and double production capacity.

Joe Perkins, technical manager at Chigwell, said:

With the brand-new factory layout, we had the chance to achieve real efficiency gains. LogiKal MES allows us to track aluminium output in the same way as PVC‑U, providing crucial insight into a fast-growing segment of our business.

The MES system integrates seamlessly with Chigwell’s existing LogiKal aluminium software, enabling real-time job tracking, order status updates, error detection, and centralised reporting through an interactive dashboard accessible 24/7, both onsite and remotely. Forterro’s BM Aluminium team installed 12 barcode scanning terminals across machinery and fabrication stations. Machine interfaces are linked to the software, ensuring every operation, from start to finish, is automatically logged.

An important benefit is support for ISO 9001 traceability. Perkins added: “It’s a robust system that simplifies future audits while improving internal and customer communications.”

Forterro completed the installation and delivered on-site staff training in just over a week. Daniel Hodges, sales team lead at Forterro, noted:

The feedback from operators has been extremely positive. MES promises fast payback by improving efficiency and enabling fabricators to deliver a higher standard of service.

While Chigwell is one of the first UK fabricators to go live with LogiKal MES, other companies, including Kingfisher Windows, have also adopted the system, reflecting growing interest in MES solutions to optimise production and digital workflows.
