Şişecam, leader in glass and chemicals, and BG Container Glass Public Co., Ltd. (BGC), Thailand’s leading glass packaging manufacturer and a key supplier across the ASEAN region, have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability in the glass industry.
The collaboration combines Şişecam’s 90 years of expertise in glass production, chemical technologies, and global market presence with BGC’s regional strength, operational excellence, and advanced manufacturing network. BGC operates five glass packaging plants in Thailand, with the highest national production capacity, and has expanded its capabilities through mergers and acquisitions, including Prime Packaging Company Limited, to offer flexible packaging solutions and Total Packaging Services.
Under the MoU, Şişecam and BGC will explore initiatives across several key areas: development of glass product properties to enhance durability, clarity, and energy performance; production optimization, including furnace efficiency and waste reduction; advanced production planning and supply chain integration; joint R&D in lightweight packaging, recycled glass utilization, and chemical innovation; and trading of finished and semi-finished glass products to expand market reach.
Şişecam Chief Production Officer Mr. Beytullah Şahin highlighted the strategic value of the partnership: “By combining Şişecam’s global expertise with BGC’s regional strength, we aim to deliver innovative and efficient solutions that create value for the glass industry in the ASEAN region.” BGC CEO Mr. Silparat Watthanakasetr added: “Partnering with Şişecam allows us to leverage global best practices while reinforcing our commitment to operational excellence and customer-focused solutions. Together, we will set new benchmarks for sustainability and innovation in the glass industry.” 
The partnership aligns with Şişecam’s CareForNext strategy for environmental and social responsibility, while supporting BGC’s goal to provide high-quality, environmentally conscious packaging solutions. Together, the two industry leaders are positioned to drive technological progress, operational excellence, and sustainability across the ASEAN glass sector.
