A groundbreaking step in sustainable glass manufacturing is taking shape as Global Glass Group (GGG) and HK Leadus Innovation Ltd announce the opening of the world’s first circular vacuum glass production facility in Stadskanaal, the Netherlands. Now under construction, the factory will produce GG-NedVac – an advanced glass solution that merges Low Carbon base glass with recycled circular glass, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
Unlike conventional vacuum glass, GG-NedVac is designed with a closed-loop production system, allowing end-of-life glass to be reused in new panels. The result is a fully circular product with an ultra-low carbon footprint, aligning with the Netherlands’ and EU’s Green Deal and circular economy goals.
The Stadskanaal site was strategically chosen for its access to renewable energy, strong logistics infrastructure, and proximity to European construction markets. GGG provides decades of industrial experience, while Leadus supplies proprietary vacuum technology, specialized patents, and engineering expertise.
The glass has successfully passed TÜV EN673 thermal performance testing, and CE certification is expected within eight months. To promote the technology, GGG has opened the Netherlands’ largest vacuum glass showroom in Zwanenburg (Amsterdam), offering architects, contractors, and developers hands-on access to circular glass innovations that redefine sustainable building design.
