Ardagh Group’s Fairfield Site Marks a Decade of ENERGY STAR® Recognition

Ardagh Group’s distribution centre in Fairfield, California, US was awarded an Energy Star building certification.

Ardagh Group’s distribution centre in Fairfield, California, has achieved the ENERGY STAR® building certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the tenth year in a row. The facility is a key logistics hub for Ardagh’s glass packaging operations on the West Coast, supporting the region’s wine industry with efficient product distribution.

This milestone highlights Ardagh’s long-term dedication to sustainability and energy management. “Our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond producing recyclable glass,” said Alex Winters, Chief Sustainability Officer at Ardagh Glass Packaging. “We strive to protect our communities by conserving energy and reducing our environmental impact.”

To maintain its high performance, the Fairfield site has implemented several energy optimisation initiatives, such as upgrading to efficient lighting and installing motion-activated sensors to minimise energy waste.

The ENERGY STAR designation recognises buildings that rank among the top 25% in energy performance across the United States, based on verified data adjusted for factors like occupancy and climate. Certified facilities typically consume 35% less energy, emit 35% fewer greenhouse gases, and operate at lower costs, proof that sustainability and operational excellence can work seamlessly together.
