Emirates Float Glass to Double Capacity with New Float Line

Dubai Investments to double float glass manufacturing capacity

Dubai Investments has announced plans to double the production capacity of Emirates Float Glass (EFG) with the addition of a second float line, increasing total output from 600 tonnes to 1,200 tonnes per day. The expansion aims to strengthen EFG’s position as a leading manufacturer of high-quality float glass in the Middle East.

The new line, set to be operational between late 2027 and early 2028, will introduce Ultra Clear low-iron glass, a first of its kind in the MENA region. This premium product will complement EFG’s existing range used in architectural and automotive applications.

According to Dubai Investments, the project will incorporate advanced technology and enhanced process efficiency to meet growing regional and international demand for float glass. Horn Glass Industries of Germany has been appointed to supply the main melting furnaces and equipment for the new line.

Established in 2009 and located in ICAD-2, Abu Dhabi, EFG remains one of the region’s most advanced float glass manufacturing facilities.
