Riou Ocean Glass Powers Growth with Glaston RC Series in Mauritius

Riou Ocean Glass has strengthened its production in Mauritius with the installation of a Glaston RC Series tempering line. Part of the Riou Glass Group, founded in 1979 in Normandy, France, the company has grown from a family business into a European leader, processing nearly 100,000 tons of glass annually across 23 sites in France, Italy, and Belgium.

Expanding across oceans, Pierre Riou entered the Indian Ocean market in 2010 by acquiring Soremir in Réunion. This move was followed in 2023 by the launch of Riou Ocean Glass in Mauritius, a strategic hub that supplies glass to Réunion, Madagascar, Mayotte, Eastern and Southern Africa, the Middle East, and Australia.

Today, the company employs 60 people, 95% of them Mauritian, trained in France to ensure world-class glass expertise. Riou Ocean Glass manufactures a wide portfolio in-house, including laminated, tempered, insulating, decorative, and high-security glass, serving construction companies and specialists in security and renovation.

The Glaston RC Series, delivered in early 2023, is designed for all glass types and thicknesses. Its advanced convection system and patented Roller Heat Control (RHC) technology provide uniform heating, consistent quality, reduced operating costs, and minimal operator input.

With two Glaston machines now operating in Mauritius, Riou Ocean Glass has boosted production capacity, expanded local know-how, and secured the technology needed to deliver innovative glass solutions while driving growth across the Indian Ocean region and beyond.
