Furnace F83 Returns to Operation at Vetropack’s Ukrainian Site

Vetropack

Vetropack has restarted Furnace F83 at its Hostomel plant near Kyiv, marking a major step in restoring its pre-war production capacity. Damaged in the early stages of the war, the furnace has been rebuilt over two years under challenging conditions.

Rising Demand for Glass Packaging

The restart aligns with surging demand for glass packaging in Ukraine, which saw double-digit growth in 2024. Glass remains a preferred, fully recyclable material, especially in the food and beverage sectors.

The revived capacity strengthens Vetropack’s market position both in Ukraine and neighboring countries like Romania. It also supports regional supply chain resilience.

To address ongoing wartime risks, the Hostomel site now includes upgraded safety systems and three emergency generators to ensure uninterrupted operations.

A Symbol of Industrial Recovery

“This restart is more than technical, it’s symbolic of endurance,” said CEO Johann Reiter. The project reflects Vetropack’s dedication to rebuilding and investing in the future of sustainable packaging.
