Effective January 1, 2025, the Reiling Group strengthens its presence in Scandinavia by acquiring Scandinavian Glass Recycling AB, based in Åstorp, Sweden. With this move, Reiling gains a crucial recycling site within Sweden, reinforcing its commitment to localized circularity and increasing its capacity to process flat glass more sustainably.
20 Years of Swedish Glass Expertise
Reiling has operated collection logistics for flat glass in Sweden for over two decades through its Danish subsidiary in Næstved and its local branch, Swede Glass United AB. Until now, collected glass had to be transported to plants in Denmark or Germany for processing. The new Swedish plant reduces this dependency, cutting both freight costs and CO₂ emissions.
Supplying the Float Glass Industry
This acquisition is more than geographical, it’s technical. With high-quality recycled cullet now produced in Sweden, Reiling can better serve the float glass, container glass, and glass wool industries. These sectors require premium input material, and Reiling’s new facility meets these stringent demands.
Closing the Loop Sustainably
Marc Uphoff, Managing Director of Reiling Glas Recycling, emphasizes the vision: “We aim to sustainably close the flat glass material cycle in Sweden.” This means less landfill, more high-grade cullet, and a stronger, greener glass industry across Scandinavia.
