HEGLA boraident’s Flagship System Installed in Lithuania
HEGLA boraident, a leader in laser-based glass processing, has successfully commissioned its state-of-the-art Laserbird system at the Glassbel Group facility in Klaipėda, Lithuania. The installation was marked by a successful Final Acceptance Test (FAT), with HEGLA’s Managing Director Jochen Hesselbach and laser expert Dr. Thomas Rainer present to oversee the launch into full-scale production.
Glassbel Expands Its Capabilities
Established in 2001, Glassbel is known for its high-performance architectural and interior glass solutions. The addition of the Laserbird enables the company to process glass panels up to 7 meters long into bird-protection glass, decorative panels, and RF-transparent communication glass, broadening its product range significantly.

Bird protection glass is gaining urgency as global awareness of bird fatalities from glass collisions grows. HEGLA’s UniColor laser-printing method creates visible patterns on glass that deter birds without compromising transparency or aesthetics. These patterns use UV-reflective or opaque dots to disrupt reflections and alert birds to the presence of the surface, all without affecting the glass’s structural integrity.
Multifunctional and Modular Technology
The Laserbird is a flexible, modular system capable of performing multiple laser treatments. From edge deletion and antibacterial coatings to laser-based surface decoration and heating capabilities, it supports a wide variety of applications. Its app-based controls and ability to handle individual custom orders make it particularly suitable for bespoke architectural projects.
This installation represents a major advancement for Glassbel, allowing them to deliver ecological, innovative, and high-specification glass solutions with greater efficiency and precision. HEGLA boraident extended its appreciation to Glassbel owners Dmitri and Larissa Sobolevski for their collaboration and commitment to innovation.
